As parents, we spend years teaching our
children how to walk, talk, and ride a bike.
But eventually, our greatest responsibility
becomes teaching them how to navigate life itself.
Welcome to You're Grounded! If you're here, there's a good chance you've noticed what I noticed: today's teens and young adults have access to more information and technology than we ever had at their age, yet they're not equipped to navigate the grown-up world they're getting ready to step into.
It's harder than ever to become a capable adult when that life requires skills that are no longer being taught in school or being learned through everyday experiences.
At You're Grounded, we help young adults build the confidence, character, and practical life skills they'll need as they become adults and start the next chapter of their lives.

I'm a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, mother-in-law, Christian, proud American, and with immense pride, a grandmother. Growing up in America during the vibrant decades of the 70s and 80s, I saw and experienced my share of challenges and disappointments, yet I was also blessed with an upbringing filled with lifelong friendships, caring teachers, and a well-rounded public school education.
Those days — the good ones, the not-so-good ones, and all the ones in between — prepared me for the adult world, teaching me the values of hard work, perseverance, character, integrity, and accountability. The world has changed a lot since then.
In reflecting on my journey as a parent, I’ve often wondered: what did I get right, where did I falter, and what could I have done to make up for the Owner’s Manual that never came with the children God gave me? Now, gazing into the future of my grandchildren’s lives, I can’t help but wonder (and worry a bit) about the world they’re living in. Young people aren't lacking potential—they're simply lacking opportunities to learn practical life skills before adulthood arrives. I see this as a unique opportunity. We can invest in preparing them today for 'grounded' futures tomorrow.

To equip young people with the life skills,
character, and preparation they need
to navigate the road ahead with confidence.
Why We Exist
For generations, education has focused on academics.
But life doesn't run on test scores...it runs on:
Solid character
Decision-making
Financial responsibility
Emotional resilience
Personal accountability
And those skills are largely missing.
What We Believe
We believe:
Life skills are not optional—they’re essential
Confidence comes from competence
Preparation prevents unnecessary struggle
Young people rise when given the right tools
As a society, it seems we’ve been hoping that life skills will “just fall into place.”
But what we’re seeing proves otherwise.
The good news? It’s not too late.
Starting now, your child can develop:
Strong character
Practical life skills
Confidence in wise decision-making
A foundation for long-term success

Our programs are designed for:
Mid-teens through young adults
Parents who want to prepare—not rescue
Families looking for ways to discuss important topics without lecturing
Homeschool families seeking supplemental curriculum
Families and groups looking for meaningful discussions—and solutions

Without these skills, young adults are forced to learn
through mistakes, the consequences of which can
affect your entire family for years to come.
With these skills, they gain:
A greater sense of self
Defined character
Increased confidence
Direction
A solid foundation
Independence
A future they're excited to greet
